Çağ Çelik Takes New Steps in Sustainable Production and Carbon Management

• October 21 2026 Press

Çağ Çelik continues its reporting activities under the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), while also pursuing initiatives to calculate its corporate carbon footprint and systematically monitor greenhouse gas emissions.

In line with our sustainable production approach, Çağ Çelik continues to advance its efforts in greenhouse gas emissions management, carbon performance improvement, and compliance with international environmental regulations.

In line with the European Union’s climate policies and the emission reduction targets established under the Fit for 55 package, we are developing our processes for calculating, monitoring, and reporting greenhouse gas emissions arising from our production activities. Through these efforts, we aim to support the transition towards low-carbon production processes and continuously improve our environmental performance.

Focusing on Actual Emissions Data in CBAM Reporting

Our reporting activities under the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) are being carried out in cooperation with Albedo Karbon Eğitim ve Danışmanlık Hizmetleri Ltd. Şti.

As part of our reporting activities for the third quarter of 2026, we aim, wherever applicable, to use actual emissions data reflecting our facilities and production processes instead of default emission values. These efforts are intended to ensure that the embedded emissions of our products are determined using more accurate, reliable, and traceable data.

In addition, preparations have begun for the Monitoring Methodology Document (MMD) to support the systematic monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions. The relevant work is targeted for completion by the end of 2026.

Preparing for Independent Verification

As part of our preparations for the independent verification of our CBAM reports, cooperation with CTR Doğrulama ve Sertifikasyon A.Ş. is planned.

The company’s accreditation application submitted to the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) has been accepted, and the process is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Subject to the successful completion of the accreditation process and confirmation that the required scope is covered, our CBAM reports for 2026 are targeted for verification in 2027.

Corporate Carbon Footprint Studies under ISO 14064-1

In addition to CBAM reporting, Çağ Çelik’s sustainability initiatives include the calculation and reporting of its corporate carbon footprint.

The work being carried out in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 standard aims to systematically identify greenhouse gas emissions arising from our operations, analyse emission sources, and identify opportunities for emission reductions.

Our corporate carbon footprint report is also planned to undergo verification by an independent verification body with the appropriate accreditation scope. This approach is intended to strengthen our carbon management processes and support our sustainability performance with reliable data.

Continuous Improvement and Low-Carbon Production

At Çağ Çelik, we view sustainability not merely as a matter of regulatory compliance, but as an important component of long-term environmental and operational development.

In this context, we aim to regularly monitor emissions arising from our production processes, evaluate opportunities to improve energy efficiency and resource utilisation, and respond to our customers’ sustainability expectations with transparent, traceable, and reliable data.

Through our carbon management initiatives, we aim to adapt to evolving environmental requirements across international supply chains, strengthen our competitiveness, and continuously improve our sustainable production approach.

Çağ Çelik continues to develop its carbon management processes and improve its environmental performance in line with its commitment to sustainable production.
